Nam Woohyun (Hangul:남우현 ; Hanja:南優鉉; born February 8, 1991), commonly known by his stage name Woohyun (우현) is a South Korean singer, song-writer, composer and occasional actor. He is the main vocalist of the 7-member group Infinite under Woollim Entertainment.[1]
Biography[edit]
Woohyun was born in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated from Dong Ah Institute of Media & Arts. After studying there for three years, he has now extended his studies for one more year under a different major. He has an older brother, Nam Boohyun. Boohyun owns a popular BBQ restaurant.[2] He is well known for his fan service. He spent 3 million won of his own money to buy silver rings and flowers for one lucky fan at each stop during INFINITE’s world tour in 2013.[3]

Infinite[edit]
Woohyun made his debut in 2010 as the main vocalist of Infinite. He is one of the main vocalists of the band alongside leader Kim Sung Kyu. Prior to his debut, he had a modeling job and acted in KooPD’s 2007 music video, 귀가 멀어.
Toheart[edit]
On February 20, 2014 SM Entertainment released a prologue teaser announcing Toheart, a special unit duo consisting of Woohyun and Key of Shinee.[4] A second prologue teaser was released on February 27.[5] Following that, a music video teaser was released on 4 March 2014.[6] The duo’s mini-album track preview video was released on March 6.[7] Toheart debuted with Delicious on March 10[8] and made their live debut on March 12 during their MelOn Premiere Showcase.[9]
Solo career[edit]
In September 2011, it was announced that Woo Hyun would be joining Immortal Song 2 as a fixed member.[10] His first performance on the show was aired on October 1. On November 1, it was announced that he would be leaving the show due to Infinite’s upcoming Japanese promotions.[11] His final episode aired on November 5.
Woo Hyun made his debut as a musical actor, along with band member Sung Gyu, in the musical “Gwanghwamun Sonata”,[12] playing the role of Ji Yong, the son of female lead, Yeojoo, from January 3 to March 11, 2012. He reprised the role again in Japan from January 4 to January 6, 2013.
In July 2012, Woo Hyun was cast to star in his first drama, The Thousandth Man, alongside T-ara‘s Hyomin.[13]
In December 2012, Woo Hyun was selected to be part of one of SBS‘s Gayo Daejun 2012 project teams, Dramatic Blue,[14] along with Beast‘s Yoseob, 2AM‘s Jo Kwon, MBLAQ‘s G.O, and Teen Top‘s Niel. Under the banner ‘The Color of K-pop’, Dramatic Blue released and performed the track “Tearfully Beautiful”, produced by Sweetune.[15]
In 2013, he took part in Re;code,[16] a duet project, with Korean indie pop singer, Lucia, covering the indie song “Cactus”.[17]
In April 2014, it was announced that Woohyun would be starring in a new KBS drama alongside fellow member Lee Sung-yeol and child actress Kim Sae-Ron[18] The drama is titled High School: Love On and will begin airing July 11 on KBS. [19]
